Heinz Endowments Grant

A Note from the Executive Director:
AFN is very pleased and thanks the Heinz Endowments who awarded us a grant to implement a two year Fathers Program.

The Heinz Endowments supports efforts to make southwestern Pennsylvania a premier place to live and work, a center for learning and educational excellence, and a region that embraces diversity and inclusion.

As AFN stays true to our mission we will be supporting fathers with children who have mental health or emotional needs.  We realize that fathers need support whether married, divorced, separated or single and we are seeing more fathers who are raising their children as single parents.   The need is there and the Heinz Endowments has stepped up to the plate to fund the efforts of AFN in supporting fathers.

This new program will begin in January 2014 and will look at fathers utilizing several areas of the Child Serving Systems in Allegheny County.  We will partner with systems, providers and communities in the following areas to enhance the life of families:
• Faith Based Organizations
• Family Division, Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas
• CYF and Juvenile Justice Section of the Family Division Court of Common Pleas
• Self-referred fathers through AFN’s Chat Line and provider referral
