Childcare Providers and Assistants

​

Childcare Specialists and Assistants will care for the children of our parents during Support Groups, Parent Training Workshops and other as-needed events. We host these events all throughout Allegheny County at various sites, including our main location in Oakland and our satellite office in Natrona Heights. Shifts typically will range from 2 - 3 hours, except for Special Events, which will be longer hours. This position provides childcare to small groups of children approximately ages 0 to 12 years old; maintains a safe, clean and welcoming environment for children; plans activities; provides snacks; maintains paperwork including sign-in sheets and parent information forms; communicates with parents and AFN staff, and is responsible for other related tasks while on-duty. Locations vary. Childcare may be needed or used during daytime or evening hours, pending availability. This is an as-needed position, hourly pay position. Compensation is $15-20 per hour depending upon experience.

 

REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to pass PA State Criminal Background Checks and FBI clearances and NSOR; experience working with childcare in a school or facility settings; Special Education training or certification preferred, but not required; ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds in a culturally competent manner, and must be able to maintain confidentiality, be self-motivated and able to work independently or with a team.
