2022 Excellence in Social Work Practice Award for COSA Students

Updated: Jun 15

Congratulations to Will Hayden on his recent graduation from the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work and completing his field placement at Allegheny Family Network.

Will joined AFN in August 2021 and has spent his semester learning about Family Peer Support, the importance of Family Voice and Choice in a child's mental health and treatment, and the behind-the-scenes of social work agency operations and management.

"I want to help families in this region thrive, and I want to learn as much as possible about how effective non-profits function," Will said about his choice of studies and placement. "I love the people who work at AFN. It's an incredible organization full of passionate and kind people."

Will received the 2022 Excellence in Social Work Practice Award for COSA Students for his "dedication and commitment to understanding, advocating for and supporting the work of Family Peer Support during his internship at Allegheny Family Network." He was nominated by CEO Ruth Fox and Misty Woody, his field task supervisor. Read more about the award here.

Will is currently interviewing in the Pittsburgh non-profit sector and plans on enjoying the summer with his family. Thank you, Will, and CONGRATULATIONS!
